Center for Behavioral Health and Justice welcomes juvenile justice expert Terri Gilbert

Terri GilbertTerri Gilbert was recently offered the position of Manager of Juvenile Justice initiatives at the Wayne State University School of Social Work Center for Behavioral Health and Justice (CBHJ). The focus of the Center is to provide technical assistance, evaluation and content expertise in preventing the incarceration of those with mental health and substance use disorders. Ms. Gilbert, who recently worked at the University of Michigan Child and Adolescent Data Lab, has extensive experience in child welfare and juvenile justice spending many years as an administrator within MDHHS. The juvenile unit of CBHJ will work closely with the State of MI Juvenile Justice Commission on creating a new plan for provision of services for youth involved in the legal system. Ms. Gilbert will also oversee county-specific activities associated with diversion of youth from confinement with the CBHJ statewide diversion programming and evaluation team.
