Biography
Born and raised in metro Detroit, Devon attended Michigan State University (MSU) where he graduated with a bachelor's in psychology in 2018. While at MSU Devon developed a deep passion for research and had the opportunity of working in the psych lab, collaborating on various projects as it pertained to behavioral health. Following graduation, Devon went on to work in the behavioral health field where early on he adopted a desire to uphold the care and personal concern for those struggling with mental health, particularly as it pertains to those facing addiction and drug-induced mental illness. Devon will be attending Wayne State University (WSU) graduate program this Fall of 2021, where he will pursue a micro-focus to obtain his master's in social work. Devon is deeply concerned with addressing mental illness within his own community where he will work hand-and-hand with community activists to develop a comprehensive plan of action, detailed at reducing the rates to which people are exposed to drug-induced mental illness.
Responsibilities
Devon serves as a project coordinator for the Assisted Outpatient Treatment projects. He serves as the primary liaison within counties, navigating relationships between systems and county partners - including community mental health, county jail, probation/parole, peer supports, and first responders - and implements evaluation design including data collection, surveys, interviews, and focus groups.
