Biography
A Detroit Native, Kyra Harris received her bachelor's in Psychology from Wayne State University in May 2024. Throughout the program, she was actively involved in campus organizations, volunteering, and community/nonprofit work that centered on advancing Detroit youth academically, socially, and mentally.
Kyra also accumulated research experience through working in various research labs at Wayne State, working as a summer research assistant through the Rutgers University’s RiSE program, and being a fellow TRIO McNair Scholar. Through her academic and professional background, Kyra has developed a strong interest in addressing systemic issues that affect the Black community through research and advocacy, along with striving to promote the mental health and economic growth of Black youth in the City of Detroit. Kyra joined the CBHJ in July 2024 where she works as a Data Assistant, playing a critical role in achieving the center’s overall mission and goals.
Responsibilities
Kyra assists in the entry, coding, cleaning, conditioning, and analysis of multiple data sets from jails, courts, and state-level agencies. In addition to these data responsibilities, she also assists in the writing of manuscripts and reports.
